Anew

March 1, 2016

Written by Marykate O’Malley, mother of three wonderful children, Gladwyne PA

Everything seems possible in spring. The first warm day and I want to do something radical, something scandalous, and throw open the windows and sing to the unsuspecting street and world beckoning below. I want to serenade every tulip, and this glorious earth giving  birth to flowers, and leaves, and green verdant grass.

I want to drink in meadows of buttercups, and butterflies, and even the dandelions are radiant, and bright.

I have not asked for much in this world. Only simple things. Quiet things. And why is too big a word to bear. And so I learned to say thank you. For daffodils, and tulips, for leaves pushing fresh through the earth. For robins eggs, and the buds of hyacinths, all whispering of the promise. Life can begin anew.
