Bright Idea – Playgroup Rotation

September 28, 2011

Do you have little adorables that are in school just part of the day?  Do you sometimes wish for a full day to get stuff done?

Meet the Playgroup Rotation!!

Here’s how it works: you gather a group of adorables  – in our case, these kiddos all go to preschool together (except for 1 who is dropped off later).  Each mother takes a turn hosting at her home, and picks ALL the adorables up from school (frankly, this is the hardest part).  We’ve opted to have them stay for lunch at preschool so we don’t have to coordinate 5 lunches.  Then from 12:30-2:45 it’s PLAYtime.

Here’s the VERY BEST PART: if it’s not your turn to host, you have from 9 o’clock after drop-off until 2:45 to do whatever you please.

kid-free grocery shopping

manis and pedis

errands

Can you say OUTLET Mall??

Yesterday was my day to host so you can see the mayhem that ensued…

This is their “boat” and all the toys and pillows needed to be loaded up.

Listen here, we’re not trying to kill ourselves so movies are involved.

This is the girl couch…

and the boys.

I do look forward to hearing all the chatter and pretend play these adorables come up with.  I caught my little guy explaining to the girls why he peed standing up and why they couldn’t.

Unfortunately, anatomical differences among the genders is his favorite topic right now.

And as I send these four little darlings home, I now have the next 4 Tuesdays from 9-2:45.

Can I get a Hip! Hip! Hooray?!!

(not that I don’t love my little guy immensely, but did you hear me say OUTLET mall???)

I love this idea! I have read about parents doing this for a week at a time in the summer, they each host a ‘camp’ with a theme. Each person does a week and then your kid goes to camp at the other houses the other weeks! Parents helping parents, I love it!
