Cupcakes

January 10, 2012

Written by Contributing Writer, Sarah Farthing

We just had a cupcake shop open in a retail space in our city’s quaint downtown area.  It seems cupcakes are all the rage these days.  I suppose that’s why these fun ideas have all caught my attention recently and they were too fun not to share!

Bloomin’ Cupcake

Available at 1-800-Flowers for $24.99.  This is the most adorable flower arrangement for under $25 that I have ever seen!

Baby Cupcake Gift Box

I thought these gift boxes were such a fun gift idea for new parents and so functional, too!  The cupcakes are made from receiving blankets, burp cloths and washcloths!  Even socks and headbands can be included, they are made to order: check out TrendyBabyKC on Etsy.  Under $30!

Cupcake Cake Pan

I have told you  before about my love for Wilton Cake Pans.  They make cake baking and decorating, well, a piece of cake.  This pan that generates one gigantic cupcake is fantastic and is under $20 on Amazon!

Look at all that sweetness! (The babies and the cupcakes!) What a fun idea for first birthday pictures or any other celebration where a sweet treat is in order.

If you know about any other fun cupcake products, tell us about it!

I saw this tip on Pinterest for cupcakes. I haven’t tried it yet myself, but am planning on trying it out on the next batch of cupcakes that I need to bake.

Would be wonderful to make great looking cupcakes (especially for bake sales, etc).

That is a great tip! Do you reduce the heat to 325 degrees partially through?
Also, does anyone have one of those cupcake makers? I don’t have room for any additional appliances, but it looked cute!

I actually bought that cupcake flower arrangement for my husband’s grandma two years ago – she was 92 then – she LOVED it and had a great time showing it to everyone else at the place she lived. Which reminds me her birthday is this Friday and I MUST get something in the mail!! 🙂 I hope I live to be 94 and can still email! 🙂

I love my cupcake carrier – it has 3 tiers and can hold up to 36 cupcakes – perfect for school celebrations and birthday parties. I have also seen mom’s use a store box – ones that would hold a shirt or sweater – with the lid of course – the perfect size and a good use for old boxes! ps Heidi – I cant wait to try your chili recipe!

Heidi – I haven’t tried it yet myself. Someone on the website comments said the following… “I wasn’t exactly sure either, but what I did was heat my oven up to 350, put my cupcakes in, then lowered it to 325. So as soon as I put my cupcakes in, the temperature started to lower. I don’t know if it’s right, but it worked for me!”
