Farmer’s Market (and Giveaway!)

September 14, 2009

Nothing invokes dreams of healthy eating like a trip to a farmer’s market.  Seeing all that delicious and nutritious bounty in one place is inspiring.  (Afterwards, I always end up eating cookies to make up for all that nutrition, but that’s another story.)

Luckily, the adorables don’t mind the trip with me.  I’ve finally found something that gets the elder adorable involved in the process:

It’s a Farmer’s Market Set to cart, clean, and learn about their fruit and veggies.  Just like the adults.
(We have one to give away below.)

So adorable!

It comes with this towel and vegetable brush for scrubbing and this cute laminated book that shows what is grown where and another page that tells when vegetables and fruit are in season.

So we grabbed his bag and headed off to find some bounty.

Too bad he can’t see what’s in all those baskets!

We settled on these little SunGold beauties because our 3 little plants at home are not keeping up with demand:

These taste better than candy, I promise.

Obviously.

Like all good things, you can find it at Amazon:

Or, you can win one here simply by leaving a comment. That’s it! Go ahead and leave your URL if you are a fellow-blogger – it’s always fun to meet new friends. I’ll use Random.org to generate the winner on Saturday, September 19th for all comments left Monday-Friday. Good luck!

P.S. Yes, those tomatoes are in The Berry Bowl Wonder. Love it!

***WINNER***  Jenny (#3 on the list) won!  Thanks to all of you!!

I guess all kids are alike! Mine are also more likely to eat when they are also more likely to eat when they are involved in the buying or cooking of food. Ever tried making guacamole with your kids? Mine will eat a ton of it when they get to help make it!

This is sooo cute!! My daughter will eat hamburger soup with all the veggies we add in if she helps, but won’t eat any of them just as a side with a meal. When she gets really stubborn I end up adding baby food veggies to her mac & cheese. What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her! I love your site. I look forward to reading it every week! Keep up the good work!

I agree with cherry tomatoes being like candy. We call them “little beauties” and the are gone in no time around our home.

How cute this is! My son loves shopping at farmer’s markets and helping mommy and daddy find good vegetables for dinner. This would be a blast. Thanks for the opportunity!
