Hic-cup Cure

April 2, 2013

written by Cathy Baker, mom of two sweet daughters

If I hear my kids ask, ‘Mom, can I have a spoonful of Peanut Butter?’ I instantly know that they have the hiccups.

This is the one little secret I’ve carried from my childhood, and I’m surprised so little people know about this tried and true remedy.  It has yet to fail me or my family.

For some strange reason, just eating a spoonful of peanut butter really does get rid of those annoying hic-cups!

So how do you cure the hic-cups in your house?

(psst – I even tried eating peanut butter when I was pregnant to cure my daughter’s hiccups – she got them all the time — that did not work, unfortunately! ha!)

One quick note that peanut butter is a food that you can not clear out of your throat if you start choking. I had a CPR/ First Aid instructor mention that it should always be eaten with other foods.
