Home Tour Saturday: Modern Green

March 20, 2010

Thanks for accommodating the change of schedule this week – it was so worth it, don’t you think?

Today we are going to see a gorgeous remodel in LaCanada, California.  If you love the outdoors, I promise major drooling is in store.

This is the entry to the home.  Dramatic, elegant, and loads of glass.

Here’s what the home used to look like – a typical 80’s ranch:

Quite a change!

Let’s start with the dining room and you’ll get the feel of those incredible windows throughout the home that open to the outdoors.

Bathed in privacy, these windows allow the sunlight to pour in.

No blackout shades here.  Love the blooming trees.

Now this is one heck of a bathroom…

I just love this room.  The wide double-doors, the blue cabinetry, the high ceilings and all that gorgeous light.

As we move to the living room and kitchen, both rooms feature bi-fold doors that open completely to the outdoors.  A great way to double your entertaining square footage.  And just all-around awesome.  Not so practical in Connecticut.

The kitchen is beautiful and bright.

Now moving outdoors…

This outdoor living area is outstanding.

The fire pit beckons guests with the U-shaped seating area.  Marshmallows, anyone?

A view looking into the home…  The corner room there on the right is the bedroom, just to give you an idea of the scale of the windows.

Doesn’t this look so enjoyable?  I hope these owners are excellent cooks, because they need to host BBQs several times a week.  At least.

But hands-down, my favorite feature of this stunning home is this…

..this brilliant bar that opens directly to the kitchen.

Go ahead and exhale because I know you are holding your breath.

Some might be all about the wine there on the bar, but I’m thinking how I could lasso the adorables to feed them their PB&J’s so they could get back to the busy life of being young and outdoors.

This idea is going directly into my “Home I’m Building Someday” file.  It’s my favorite file.

Special thanks to form, environment, research (fer) studio for this remarkable home tour.  Visit their website at www.ferstudio.com.

Hopefully you are enjoying some gorgeous spring weather wherever you are.  See you Monday!
