Keepsake Ideas for Children’s Artwork

March 20, 2012

Written by Cathy Baker, mom of two amazing girls, from Missouri

If your home is like mine, I’m always wondering what to do with all  my children’s masterpieces! Here are a few ideas to help you out!

I’m starting with my favorite idea!  Your child’s drawing made into a soft plush toy! It’s a handmade priceless masterpiece! More details at Child’s Own Studio.

How about this cute pinterest idea…clipboards on the wall. I would decoupage some cute scrapbook paper on the clipboards, but also cute just plain.

Simple, cheap frames spray painted to match. She just put binder clips in the middle to easily change out the artwork from Less than Perfect Bliss blog.

Same idea upclose…

Pick your favorite art work from the past year, then scan them and condense them into one framed keepsake. For sale at Simply Create Kids.

A rod with hanging clips. Love the look in the stairway. Found at While My Hands are Full blog.

How about putting all their artwork into a photobook for your coffee table.  Or for a grandparent gift. Or both!

In my own home, I bought these acrylic  frames that just slide on and off their base…covered the base with fabric…it’s so easy to change in and out their art projects.

This can be personalized and purchased at etsy.

Here’s one more idea…mail a bundle of their masterpieces  to the grandparents!

At the very least, throw a few of their masterpieces into a box to pull out one day in the future to ‘remember when’! What do you do with your children’s masterpieces?

What cute ideas! I made the Look what I did holder for my house. Love it. When my son was 4, I made one of his illustrations into a doll. Maybe I should do this for my daughter as well. I also love the frames that hold artwork and swing open to easily replace and store.

I can never get my kids to send their hundreds of papers to the Grandmas–I’ve tried! I love the binder clip/frame idea. I’ll have to give that a try.
