New Beginnings

January 1, 2013

Art by Marian

Love that time of year when you wipe the slate clean and begin again.  I have mixed feelings about 2012 – it was all fine and great and then November hit, and it seemed like a free fall after that.

I must admit, I, and many around me, look to 2013 with a huge sense of relief.

{All this and it’s an odd-numbered year.  Have I told you about my very weird odd/even number thing?  Even numbers are happy and good; Odd numbers are, well, bad (which probably stems from a well-meaning teacher “helping” me to remember them this way).  My house number is odd (67) and it bothers me to no end.  Even more oddly, the “13” part of 2013 does not bug me all – in fact, I often have my best days on Friday the 13ths.  Don’t even try to figure this out – there’s really no point.}

And now we’re back from wherever we were.

I love the message in the image: What will you do today that will make you proud in a year?

My goals for 2012 fall into 4 categories:

1) Productivity.

2) Fitness and well-being.

3) Happiness.

4) Spirituality.

What are you working towards?  What are your goals right now?  Please share!

    Being healthy and fit is big on my list. I won’t say it’s a resolution, as I started running again about 2-3 months ago. Since then I’ve run longer (distance-wise) than I’d ever been able to before, and I’m toying with the idea of a 10K as my next goal.
    I would really like to get and STAY more organized this year. Paper (bills, junk mail, school papers) is the biggest source of clutter in our home. I wish I was better at acting on it immediately (file, recycle, or shred).
