Spooktacular Desserts

October 19, 2015

Written by Marykate O’Malley, mother of three wonderful children, Gladwyne PA

My neighborhood is the most rockinest place to be on Halloween night. Block party, festive food and music, and lots and lots of candy for all the adorables who come for treats. While looking for a fun and festive dessert to bring I found these ideas and had to share!

My goal is Halloweenish, not too time consuming, and something I can make with the little ones.

Here is what I found. I am tied between the witches hats (easy, cute) and the spiders, and leaning slightly towards the spiders. Except the eyes, where to get those – low on time is a deciding factor. Decisions, decisions.

Transylvania Truffles – I was thinking of rebranding as Pennsylvania Truffles, and instead of the Truffles using…. munchins! (easy peasy) except the tombs… that doesn’t look easy. Recipe here

Spider Cookies – how cute are these?! Love, but those eyeballs, again, where do I get them? I was just at Michael’s and don’t want to go back just for this. Halloween problems. here

Owl awesome is this?! here

This is the runner up, witches hats. Super easy, super cute.  here

This may need to be it, going for the wow factor. Being a Philly girl I am thinking chocolate Tastykakes for the body.  Eyes a la M & M with a dab of frosting. Cute, easy, fun. It doesn’t get much better than that! here
