This is as much a cry for help as it is a list of ideas here. Help!

What are you doing for the daddy in your home? Have you had any brilliant gift ideas that brought huge smiles in the past?

Here’s a couple of mine.

1. The first one, I need to warn you, caused a bit of sticker shock. I rolled this into Christmas, Birthday, Valentines, Father’s Day, and whatever else I could think of at the time.

A new bike with the attached child seat. Now I wish you could have seen the Running Man’s 10-speed he was making do with prior to this new bike. Think 1986 here. Really, really old school throw-back, crying to be put out to pasture. So he was due.

But in giving him this, it also turned out to be a huge gift for me. The thing I didn’t think of when I gave this to him – I’m slow sometimes – was that when he strapped on our (at the time, only) adorable and went off for a ride, I was left alone with the house to myself. And let me tell you, it was maahhh-velous. Picture dancing around the house to Cher, cranked real loud: “I Beee-lieve… in love” (just go ahead and sing along).

2. This one isn’t my idea (it’s my elder adorable’s) and I haven’t done it yet (so Running Man, if you’re reading this, feign surprise when you unwrap it).

A tent for taking the adorables and sleeping in the back yard.

While the implications of a whole night to watch my chick-flicks without any groaning are obvious, I also think it will be wicked fun for the adorables. And next summer, I think we’ll have arrived at the perfect ages to attempt this endeavor.

3. This last one may be particular to the Running Man’s love of travel and atlases…

National Geographic Atlas of the World, Eighth Edition

National Geographic has launched this amazing new atlas. While it’s price is not inexpensive ($103.95), it’s a forever addition to our library. But how to get the adorables from creasing the pages???

Now for your ideas! Please, please, I beg of you, offer yours as help for all of us. What are you doing this year? What has been a hit in the past?
