Tarry Here…

August 4, 2010

Howdy Folks! Welcome to the Tarryall River Ranch in Lake George, Colorado about an 90 minutes due west of Colorado Springs.

In case you missed it yesterday, this was the location of a great surprise for the Running Man.

I had to tell you about this ranch because #1) they were so good to us, and #2) I know you all would love it.

Gorgeous (… “Wish you were here”…)

Need I say more here??

Horses, Horses, Horses

Each guest was matched with a horse that was theirs for the week.  Mine was Checkers and he and I got along fine.

The first day we went out for an easy trail ride to get acclimated – for most of us it had been YEARS (like 23 in my case).

This is our wrangler, Maggie.  She nicknamed one member of our group “Shenanigans” and if you met this person, it is the PERFECT nickname for her.  She’s Shenanigans from now on.  Maggie, you nailed her after 5 minutes.

Could you ever tire of riding in these surroundings?

Food

My *only* complaint about my stay was the 5 pounds I gained while staying there.  The food was absolutely divine, all baked from scratch.  I even bought the cookbook.

Meals were served family style with breakfast at 8, lunch at 12:30, and dinner at 6:30.    Dee-lish, I’m telling you…

Just kind of wish I had practiced a wee bit more restraint, but pass the cookies please.

And the fresh baked bread.

And the cinnamon rolls.

Anyhoo…

Kids

Every morning we dropped off the 5 and unders (the “Bronco Busters”) at the Rec hall… (6 and olders were trail-riding or mining for gold or lassoing cattle or a bevy of other fun things.)

… which was full of fun things to do: pool and ping pong tables, games, etc.  They also had an awesome playground and real goats.

During this time, the adorables also did their pony rides.

After lunch, they met at this craft cabin…

… and got busy making bandanas, t-shirts, dream catchers, etc.  Several times we would go to pick them up and the adorables would tell us to come back later – they just weren’t done yet.

Every afternoon, we hit the pool…

… and the gigantic hot tub.

Rockin’ Rodeo

On Saturday, we had the opportunity to show off our skills at the Tarryall Rodeo.

This wagon brought in all the adorables for the show.

Then the ranch crew made their entrance….

… and readied themselves for the festivities.

Our group of 27 was only there from Wednesday night to Sunday morning and we all agreed this was wwaaaaayyyyyy tooooooooo short.  I can’t wait to get back.

If you’re ever in the area, or want to make a special trip, contact Kevin at (800) 408-8407 or visit www.tarryallranch.com. You will love it!
