East Coast Splendor

March 2, 2012

This home, located on the shore in Westport, Connecticut, is truly a gem.

It doesn’t hurt that a gorgeous waterfront view with a deepdock, pool, tennis court and tennis house complete the property.

This is my favorite shot, all lit up and welcoming.

Moving inside (there are a LOT of photos, so I’ll keep quiet for some)

Living room…

Dining (love the casual formality)

Kitchen, glorious kitchen

Family room

Study

Butler’s Pantry

Master…

Perhaps my favorite room of the house!

Love the kids room for their color…

This is the tennis house I mentioned before…

and inside:

Love these little window seats everywhere.

And now for miles and miles of decking.

Aaaahhhhhhh!

So here’s the question: if you could re-do 1 room in this home, which would it be and what would you do?

Wow, what a gorgeous view and a lovely home! That dock looks like a ton of fun! 🙂
I honestly can’t pick just one room to re-do! Haha. I think the majority of the furniture seems out of place. (It sort of looks like it’s just there for the house showing?) Doesn’t match with the style of the house, lots of mismatched colors/wood styles, and also seems very old / worn out… I really feel like the house would look much better w/o any furniture in these shots. (No offense intended!) 🙂

Also could use updated paint, (I’m not seeing much color throughout the house), new curtains, and some other decor to lighten things up. 🙂 (Possibly light fixtures!)
The house also looks like it has some very lovely wood floors hiding beneath all those rugs! (Definitely should re-design those rooms to show it off a bit more.)
The architecture seems to have a lot of very nice details as well, and they could be accented more w/ certain lighting or furniture/artwork placement. 🙂 For example, things that would pleasantly draw the eye upwards towards some of those lovely high ceilings.
