Speechless…

January 8, 2010

What you are about to see is NOT normal.  In fact, I’ve never seen anything like it.

But it is FANTASTIC.

EXCEPTIONAL.

But really, really not normal.

(Just keep that in mind.)

Ready?

This is the nursery for 2 very, very lucky twin adorables.

This is not your standard room: it’s 18’x20’ with a 14’ ceiling.  That’s huge!  The main event is this 8.5’ wide carousel that stands the full 14’ to the ceiling. The carousel carries 2 cribs (for the twins) as well as 2 carousel horses. The overall structure is strong enough to easily hold 3 adults standing on its roof.

Look at that detail…

I know, it’s just too amazing.

My adorables would be riding on these pronto.  And they can!

The room also features a giant toy block cube wall that extends to the ceiling.  I love the window seat!

And it’s storage!  How cute is that!

These triangular fabric panels for the window treatments had to perfectly fit when installed.

A full-scale model was created at the workshop to create them, and luckily, they were a perfect fit.

Look at all the detail!

To disguise the attic door opening, a giant ticket mounted on top of the ladder pull down was created.  I know, I know…

The floor is covered with these cushy tiles.  Best part about them: you can pull up one and replace it if a spill should ever occur.

Hello flatscreen tv!

The actual install took one week worth of 15-hour days with three people working. The preparation design and fabrication time was between 1 to 2 months.  I can’t even imagine!

This room was created by the brilliant folks at KidTropolis in Vienna, VA.  You can find them at www.kidtropolisbuild.com.  I think they should win the Oscar for Best Kid Room Design.  Ever.

If you’d like to see more of their work, they were also behind the creation of this fabulous playroom.

A special thank you for the use of their photos.

I wondered the same thing – it doesn’t because of the window treatments that are attached at the top.

I can’t get over this! I would hang out in that room all the time. Makes me wonder what the rest of this house looks like.
